EDIT: it's settled, the kitten's name is now Amber as she actually turned out to be gold and brown instead of a grey. plus, it sounds more lady like then Jitterbug. (my mom named her now that she got aquainted with the kit
)once again, some lost, lonely and sick little kitten has squeaked her way into my soft squishy heart and made me take her home.
in the last three days, walking home from work was bad because not only are the streetlights cut off for some reason, but the sound of a kitten can be heard somewhere in the construction site for the new house on the block.
needless to say, it was heartbreaking because I new it was orphaned by the second day if it wasn't moved by it's mother. on the third day (aka today) the street lights were on and I wasn't able to ignore the sad cries anymore. so I climbed about lugging my heavy bag with me trying to find the little runt while making ridiculous kitty-friendly noises to lure it out.
imagine my surprise when the first thing I see is a mucky face with two HUGE lumps where the eyes should be. it was so gross, by all rights I should have abandoned the idea of rescuing it and left. but pity for the miserable thing made me grab it the second it was within reach (took a few tries to get there, mind you. it was blind, but my shadow still had a way of spooking it)
first thing I said getting home was "MOM! what does this have, and how can I fix it?" and she was all "NOT ANOTHER ONE!"
you can guess we have a history for rescuing strays. in any case. once I freshened up, I took the little dirt ball and started giving it a bath along with a tea-bag treatment on it's bulging eyelids to see what the deal was.
well, it turned out it's eyes were crusted shut and filled with more puss then an infected ear canal. I must have cleared over 2 table spoons of the smelly puke-invoking crud from the poor thing's head. the good part is that it's eyes were still there (thank God) they were just sorta pushed in from the pressure.
after the bath, I cleared out it ears with Q-tips and had my mom help me with dropping in some eye-wash eye-drops into its eyes. once she was toweled off, it was off to the fun part. feeding it. we had some left over cans of cat food from the last stray I rescued and this little kit was literally wolfing it down. I never saw a kitted so hungry that it scooped and swallowed its food without even biting it more then once. that's how hungry she was.
after taking her fill, she looked about and climbed on my knee purring in gratitude. which impressed me as it usually takes 24 hours for a kitten to take to us after we go through the tortur of bathing, fixing and feeding them. but this little fuzz face was in quite a mess before I came along. she's a little gray speckled thing with black paw pads and black lipstick. and super long whiskers. one of the prettier cats I've ever rescued. she looks about 5 weeks old, but is too skinny to really tell.
a few days of good cat food and some love with get her nice and fatty. and if she stays, sassy.
I'm currently calling her Jitterbug because she was very shaky the whole time I held her while bathing and such. but I doubt that will be her actual name in the end.just another animal story, take care all.

I'm not a complete idiot... some parts are missing.
Give Jitterbug a hug from me, will yah? And maybe a kiss on the head? Ooh...and a scratch behind the ears. ^___^
You're so kind...I'm glad you helped the poor thing! Thank-you for saving a little kitten!!

Aliens here, battles there, a mysterious man, a lonely orphan girl, and an alien boy.
There are a bunch of things that could be wrong with it's eyes, but watch out for sniffling and sneezing, which could indicate Upper Respiratory Virus (URV). It's really common in cats and can be deadly in kittens, and causes sneezing and goopy eyes. We had a litter of kittens with it once, and the poor little babies were so sick. (They were ok in the end though.)
I don't know any Arabic blessings, but there ought to be a special place in heaven for people who rescue animals, like you.
...This especially caught my heart as I just had a conversation with my roommate, and she's thinking of euthanizing her two cats just because she's worried about being able to afford a potential rent increase that the landlord hasn't even suggested yet. She seems to think she won't have money to care for them, so the best thing is to put them down. As if I would ever let them starve...

I remember one occasion i was at the university for an interview, and i find the smallest, cutest, skinniest golden haired kitten i ave ever seen.
I wanted to fed it but couldn't because i didn't had any money, and i had go in for the thing.
But i held it in my arms and kept it warm and played a little with it and i'm sure it was happy wile it lasted.

I tend to rescue animals myself; and a majority of them were wild that had been reintroduced back into the wilderness.
(so far all the domesticated animals have been kept lol)
I only recently took care of a litter of wild baby rats, they were so small when we got them; there was no way they could fend for themselves. So I fed them up and when they were big enough to defend themselves I set them free. There's plenty of foresty area's around here; so that helps a great deal lol.
I was going to keep them; being an avid rat lover (I have seven already lol) but it just didn't feel right. They wouldn't take to people and were too scared whenever you put your hand near them, so if anything I used this as a sign that they weren't inteded to be pets and belonged in the wild.
It's always heart breaking to let them go after you've taken care of them; but you always feel so proud when you see them go
Here's hoping the kitty remains well and its health improves

"How do you know I'm mad", said Alice.
"You must be", said the cat "or you wouldn't have come here."

but nearly all the cats in my area were rescued, raised and practically bread with us. even the more wild or timid ones aren't affraid of me or my brothers. but any other human makes them bolt.
you can't believe how mean people are to animals here. it's a shame.
but I know what you mean about letting them go. for us, it's always when the males leave because they lost the right to own the area and leave on there own. the females usually get run over or so sick that we have to give them a drive up to a farm and abandon them because there are no vets for pet animals here

but the kit's eye are clear now and she isn't sneazing are all. so she might have just been too dirty for too long. she just had breakfast and is being a real darling thing.
geeze, wouldn't it be better to put them up for adoption rather then gassing them? I mean, if worse comes to worse, I rather give them a new home then kill them just cause it's too expensive to buy food and litter...
